We visited Festos the day after Knossos, on Crete. In some ways, Festos is better: There is no re-construction, so what one sees is clearly "real". It's also across the island from Iraklio, meaning there are fewer visitors to compete with. The site appeared to be much larger than what one was permitted to walk around.
